Privacy
Updated October 29, 2026
Notinho is built to stay on your Mac. In short: no account, no analytics, audio is processed on the device and discarded, and your notes stay with you.
No account, no analytics
The app doesn't ask you to sign up or log in, and it doesn't collect usage data. This website doesn't use cookies or analytics either.
Audio
While recording, Notinho captures system audio and the microphone and transcribes live with Apple's speech recognition, right on your Mac. The audio is discarded right after: it's never saved or uploaded.
Notes
Notes are Markdown files in ~/Documents/Notinho, on your Mac. If your Documents folder lives in iCloud Drive, they follow iCloud's rules like any other file of yours.
AI
At the end of a meeting, only the text (the transcript and your notes) goes to the AI provider you chose, with your own key, under that provider's privacy policy.
With Apple's model, or a local model (Ollama, LM Studio) running on your Mac, the text never leaves the device.
API keys
They live in the macOS Keychain.
Calendar
macOS Calendar events are read on your Mac to list upcoming meetings and fill in the note's title and attendees.
Permissions
- Microphone: to hear your voice in meetings and dictation.
- System audio recording: to hear the other side of the call, the sound coming out of Zoom, Meet, Teams and the like.
- Calendar: to list upcoming meetings and fill in the title and attendees.
- Notifications: to give you a heads-up 1 minute before a meeting, and when a call starts.
- Accessibility: to type dictated text into the focused field.
macOS asks for your consent for each one, and you can revoke them anytime in System Settings › Privacy & Security.
